My Lord Satisfies My Thirst...Come and Drink

By Carol Blansett

I want to tell you about my LORD. He is Jehovah Jireh, my Provider. He has provided for me throughout this life, taking care of me even before I knew Him on a deeper level. He has been my mainstay, my Rock. Psalm 18 says He is “my Rock, my Fortress and my Deliverer.” I know Him to be so.

Drink Deeply! His Living Water is there for all who seek. What do you think of when you think of a cool drink of water? Refreshment! What do you think of when you think of a lack of water? Parchment! A parched, dry throat . . . or a dry spirit . . . with no relief in sight. Dry is how we become . . . when we go forth into the day without God’s Word hidden in our hearts. We need it . . . to grow and to see who we are in His view. He made us! We are His children! He sees us through the blood of Jesus Christ if we accept Him! God wrote the Book on how He sees us and how much He desires to have a relationship with us. We are the ones who distance ourselves from Him . . . because of fear, busyness, or _____ (fill in the blank ~ sometimes we probably could fill in several).

When we are parched and thirsty, what do we do? Do we run to His Word? Not always . . . instead, we try to fill ourselves with other things: music, TV, other books, people, telephone, games, and a multitude of other things. But absolutely nothing can satisfy what we are made to thirst after ~ God’s Holy Word to us. God cares so much for us; He made us with a void inside to thirst after Him! . . . and only He can fill that God-shaped void; only He can satisfy.

We are so blessed to have The Word . . . and to know it is ever sure and true. His Word never changes, it is full of promises, and remember that His time is not our time. One day with Him is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as one day. Someday we will not have to ever look at a clock or a watch again; can you imagine that? I don’t know about you, but I don’t wear a watch unless I need to!

God has more awaiting us in Heaven than we can even imagine. My grandson was naming foods he plans to eat when he gets to Heaven . . . while I am thinking, it will be much more than we have here, much sweeter and more satisfying, more than we can even imagine. Chocolate is only a tiny taste of what He has in store for us! Can you even imagine walking along the River of Life, eating from His trees? Talk about pure fruit! Organic, you say? Beyond organic!

Treat yourself: Read Revelation, chapters 21 and 22 . . . and may God richly bless you in life as you thirst after the Living Word while on this earth, looking forward to the day we can be with Him in Glory.
